Hi Teejay, thanks for the speedy reply.
Yes the ;ive CD worked find. I used it a good bit of time, no problem there.
My problem is when I go to install.
But at what seems like the last third of looks to be, it just stops. The computer does not lock up, crash or anything, it simply just stops taking the information. Everything else seems to word, the Sstart botton, and all that. I can scroll threw the images at the top of the status bar and looks at the features. But it just stops taking the information....  more

    I am stumped.
I have no other desk top to install it with.
I have no other problems with any other distro but this.
I suppose that I can use something else. But I kind of had my heart set on WattOS.
I thought about trying Rr and see of that would take. What are your thoughts on that?
I could do that, and wait till R6 comes out and try that.
    Thanks,

ALso, if I were to install software from a trusted website that offers a it in Linux, how would I uninstall it? Does Synaptic also do that?
Thanks all who have tried to help me with this, I am very grateful.

Oh, and being that I will not be able to use the Canon software as far as improving the images, and doing color corrections and so on, will the photo software be simple enough to handle these operations without a lot of fuss? I will not have a lot of time to spend a great deal of time on each photo.
    Thank you very much,

I have a pretty new netbook. Its an Acer 722. It has an C-60 dual core. (And 4 GB Ram) I am a little shy about installing to HD, as I have heard that Linux has problems with the AMD CPUs.
Can you please give me any information on this?
    Thanks,

Bill, I have seen people refer to synaptic. I have never really used that, only Software managers. Can you please instruct me on its proper use? I want to be sure I do it right.

Biff. can you please give instructions on how to make it so one can view Encrypted DVD's? I understand that some people do that have Ubuntu. All I have in my Netbook, and I have an external DVD to view DVDs, and write to DVD-R/RW.
