Zonbu sent me this little machine the size of a book and I plugged it in and off it went even faster than the old HP with almost unlimited storage online. The great thing about it was that it was seamless, everything I created and saved either as a document or a photo or a music file was saved online, and when I deleted it, it was deleted online. If you were away from home and working on another computer you could access all your files. They also did all the updates so I didn't have to think about that. It is bust now but the web site is still active and I can still access those files. Ubuntu now does something similar and the first 2GB is free.  less

Lxde is so fast and so easy to configure and in the year since I abandoned unity I guess I have gotten so used to it that going back to ubuntu seemed hard. Ringtail is usable and much smoother. I really like dash now. It gives you so much more to view. It's fast and the search works, and you can see more info & you can add & remove software so much faster than the software center,...they just should do away with it. In the end I think ubuntu is moving much more gracefully into the tech future than anyone else & that includes windows & mac.
I did have some issues with it while building my weebly website so I went back to using lxde.
Now has anyone tried lxle? I am using it now & it is great! It is sort of the opposite of wattOS but it brings lxde to the people who don't want to have to set anything up.  less

ZorinOS Lite has a dock for openbox that is called ADesk Bar, it works very well & there is also wbar in synaptic.

Hey I forgot to say what a beautiful login screen R6 has to greet me everytime I turn on my computer.
Also I added gimp. Pinta is ok, ...simpler but I have used gimp for years, but it was 2.6. For those who might want 2.8 add this ppa,
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp

I don't think much of the search feature. I prefer synapse.  I tried cairo-dock for the first time in years and it is a pleasure. It loads much faster than docky which I also tried. Evolve is a beautiful theme so I kept it. Thanks for the heads up on installing cups or I would still be cursing my computer today. Great job Biff!  less

Midori has less function and still crashes on me. I guess I've gotten too dependent on my add ons. I wish firefox would trim down a bit. Now I find I am using chromium a lot because it is fast but still awkward when doing my shipping and accounting where nothing beats firefox for ease of use. Whatever browser you pick I think it would be nice to include duckduckgo as a search engine.

The one thing I miss in LXDE is a search box in the menu. I have added synapse & it works great. E17 has a similar feature built into it, "EVERYTHING".

Onboard works perfectly on ubuntu 12.04 but I have yet to get it to work on lubuntu 12.04.
Also onboard has greatly improved since 10.04
Will gimp 2.8 be in the repository ?

My own thing would be to include onboard & have it available on login.
