Thanks Mac, this should be a better way, but.... I installed lxinput with Synaptic and it appeared in the Preferences menu. Unfortunately it has a bug: click the box for Left handed mouse and the program terminates and no change is effected. So I'm back with my script.. Best, JohnS.

Hello, I use the following script to swap the mouse buttons for left-handed use. I run this manually..... #!/bin/bashxmodmap -e "pointer = 3 2 1"; Could someone recommend a start-up script into which it could be permanently inserted? Best, JohnS

MS could argue that they want it for the best intentions i.e. to produce safe systems and let's face it their track record in this respect is dire. However I see that it has potential to lock-out other OS's, like Linux, or indeed older MS OS's. If it can be seen as being anti-competitive then the European Commission will come down on them like a ton of bricks, (as they have done before). Hello! I needed a pdf file program and one wasn't installed by default. The Poppler libraries and utilities were already installed so I downloaded and installed epdfviewer which is lightweight and uses those libraries. Its not sophisticated but its not meant to be and it does the job for me.
