Sean Garner

Yay activity! Just got a crusty old P3 Dell laptop running Windows ME. Once I figure out how to boot a USB stick off it (PLOP?) I will give R3 a spin on it.

Sean Garner Laptops BIOS from the looks of it doesn't support USB booting. No CD-ROM either! My only choices are PLOP thru floppy or a PXE install. A bit of a hassle but can still be done.

biff baxter I also posted a link to DUSE which if the laptop has a floppy can load USB drivers via DOS which I have done in the past and loaded a linux ISO (in Support)

+1 for a preset conky as well. Is there a benefit to having conky hardcore?

I'd hate to be one to bash Foobnix, but the main feature advertised is now unusable. I throw in my vote for DeaDBeeF!

in the topic Random issue regarding regarding hibernation in the forum wattOS R3
This is an issue that doesn't pop up often, but when it does it causes alarm. When going into hibernate mode I step away from my laptop (HP G60t). I've noticed that a few times the laptop will fire up the fans and get incredibly hot and be like that for hours. It seems like CPU is firing 100% too but this may not be accurate. This is a concerning enough issue to ditch hibernation. This has happened with some open programs and no open programs It's not a huge issue as standby is quick and cold boot isn't long, but if there is any info I can dig up to further investigate the issue I would be glad to help. Anyone else have this issue?

in the topic Install Faenza Icon theme in wattOS R3 in the forum Tips and Tricks
I replaced gnome-panel with Avant-Window-Manager and the Faenza icon theme looks excellent with the dock. Both of these are highly recommended!

biff baxter said:Hi dani dani dani you can use "Synaptic Package Manager" which is in the preferences menu. It maintains all software packages. Its not as intuitive as the software center, but is very easy to use, and if you know the name of what you are looking for, you can simply type it in the search window and it will find it for you. I am not sure about flash as I have not seen the problem. I will look further into that if you can also post a little more about the hardware you are running on so we can understand if its a flash or video card type issue, etc... tks, biff I can personally attest that all of my flash videos regardless of site freeze upon entering fullscreen but the plugin does not crash. I usually have to hit esc and hit the videos fullscreen button a few times. This does not affect flash videos played via Totem though. This is across the board with a GMA4500 HD, GMA950 and ATI Radeon HD 5450
