Calligrasheets leans in at 300MB (without charting and markup bits,) so how about just 600KB for the python-xlwt package (and a package it depends on, per Synaptic.) Any good? It looks like M'soft core fonts are already in R6, but you might have had a mind to pick some Apple or HP fonts, say...
    Kspread and a font set or so (at 550MB?)

Things still go IOwait-bound when I try enabling some scripts on penny-arcade.com site, but there it is. Maybe I should make a nice html5 browser/footprint/extension/arch(i686:par)/to-fit-on-8GB-usb3 selection vector-graphic for the next poll...  less
