    Ubuntu Software Center
    Dear Linux lovers,

Thanks for a great distro, fast and slim, using LXDE.  I wanted to install the Ubuntu Software Center, and I can't remember if I got it to open or to work some days ago, but have tried to relaunch it yesterday and it crashed: I got an error message such as "update apt xapian index crashed with attribute error ... in get distro".  A detail of the error message mentioned:  "root:DebFileApplication import".

I found a website that addressed that type of error albeit in a different context (their Ubuntu Software Center crashed after installing Ice software):   http://askubuntu.com/questions/147279/software-center-not-opening-after-installing-ice-from-peppermint .  I tried the steps similar to those suggested there:

    1st step:gksu leafpad /etc/*releaseChanging (I think the original said something like):DISTRIB_ID=UbuntuDISTRIB_RELEASE=11.10DISTRIB_CODENAME=preciseDISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="wattOS R6"to say:DISTRIB_ID=UbuntuDISTRIB_RELEASE=12.04.01DISTRIB_CODENA...    less
