I there a command line or something I should download from the synaptic?

I was thinking about Pinta since it looks more easy to work with,it was made after Paint.net. Smplayer is pretty good at playback and resource wise,it played much better than Vlc on H.264 format. Ktorrent despite not being as light as other its simply better for most private trackers. GShutdown is a good utility for shuting down the computer at a certain time,it took me a while to find it. I'm sorry but it just won't work. I tried to type startx and its the same problem. Its wierd why would R3 version work and not R4?

Which is it and why?
