Running WattOS on an old HP desktop:
2.30 Celeron
128 MB RAM
40G hard drive

Also an equally old gateway, but with 256MB RAM

Can't wait to beta test R3, specially if it's Debian based. Hey again biff!

Just added a refurbished HP Pavilion dv6000 to my stable of laptops/desktops. Intel Dual core 64 bit, 1.6 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HD, 15" widescreen - all for $142 off an eBay auction. It's happily running wattOS rc2 at the moment. Merry Xmas to me :)

Athlon XP with 2GB DDR of the era. Why didn't I install NoScript first thing on booting WattOS R2? Why does audiovideo.Economist.com self-defeatingly take CPU (Flash 9, m'ladies) whilst paused? Should I have replaced this with an ARM10 (for power savings) and ingenuity years ago?

Hello All, I'm Kendall from Peppermint OS and Linux Mint. I'm a fan of Watt OS which served as one of the major factors in me liking LXDE so much. I generally like all distros that carry the labels of both "small" and "fast". I'm very partial to Debian and Ubuntu code bases as I love the package management.

Anyway, just saying hello. I'll be in and out here as much as I can.

Hello wattOS community! Name's Neil. I started using linux 1 year ago, and I started using wattOS around 3 weeks ago. I love the philosophies behind both of them. I started off using Ubuntu and then I turned to WattOS because I wanted an OS that was less flashy, used less battery, yet was powerful, practical, and versatile. So far WattOS has proven to meet most of my wishes, although I'd love to see what new revisions will bring. I know several programming languages, but I have no idea on how an OS is built. Sometimes Linux can be frustrating, but I keep learning it because it's so flexible. I hope someday to completely convert from Windows 7 to Linux!

Welcome Neil - hope you can poke around and learn some stuff. I use wattOS and it works well for writing code. I have done some light android work on it with the google tools and emulators with no problems and I of course play with python a bit using various tools and IDE's, so I think you will find it a clean quick platform that you can tweak to your liking. It does not have a lot of the bling other OS's have, but that is on purpose.....welcome

Hi, I am using a ebox mini, 1.2GHz/512MB/1GB

I got the mini when I signed up for zonbu. It ran great on zonbu cloud os with online storage.

Then zonbu disapeared. I knew really nothing about linux, but I was stuck with a dumb box and installed ubuntu hearty heron. It was great! I learned. The upgrade to lucid 10.04 was good at first. It is a great distro but it's more than the little thing can handle.

I've tried siltaz, puppy, macpup, & was'nt happy with the feel of them. Then found wattOS and fell in love with lxde. I tried out mint lxde, not great ,lubuntu, not bad, & opensuse lxde, better than mint.

WattOS4 rocks! It runs the best on this machine.

Hi,speaking of old,I'm a 49years old man from China, and having been a computer user from the 1980s.Meanwhile, I have installed WattOS to a virtual machine in my only running HP notebook.I have two old laptops, each has some hardware problem. I wish I have enough spare time to make them running again.
