Well it looks like Squeeze 'The Directors Cut' has been released to the masses, I'm throwing it on the test box, with XFCE.

I'm sure it'll be rock solid, I mean heck, it's Debian.

    Anyone else tried it?

    Brent

I have it installed with LXDE, and it is very nice indeed. Pretty much trouble free.

Hey Leenie - you can use the minimal install ISO (netinstall if I recall) and choose LXDE or there is a 6 specific LXDE-XFCE iso that is available from the cdimage repositories to download (around 640MB)

I did a "netinstall", and it installs the gnome desktop by default, so I installed LXDE, and removed the gnome deskstop from the installation, and it pulled most all th stuff I didnt want.

They also have (or did have) and LXDE/XFCE soin that will give you the option of which desktop you want to install.

Thais is the link for the 32 bit page.

It looks like you will have to copy and paste the address in your browser, for some reason it wont link up, but the address was copied right from the page.

Installed a minimal Debian 6.0.5 yesterday on my test-box. Only OpenBox and Chromium on board, my version of ChromeOS so to speak :) It only has a RAM-usage of 25 Mb at idle !

Did an install of Debian 7 Beta 2 with IceWM on the test-box. Slightly "heavier" (what's in a name) then Debian 6 (38 Mb vs 25 Mb) but feels snappier. All in all a very fast system this way :)

Hi Ferre - its fun to play with distros :) - I installed a super fast wattOS build using JWM but I am always trying to balance lightweight with usability for non-technical people and how quickly most can get things done :)
