    R6 app list

Keep in mind there are other things not listed here that are tweaks, updates, changes, etc for optimization (power management tools - powertop, psensor, Jupiter, etc). Expect more details on that shortly. The theme/icons is not quite settled, but expect some screenshots in the next day or two :). Right now my test system wallpaper is of the black sea where I will be vacationing soon so I stay focused on getting things done :) - that will likely not be the wallpaper for release.

There could still be a couple changes based upon testing, so stay tuned for the "final" release readme. This is for both 32 and 64 bit releases.

Web Browser - Latest Chromium - with flash support
    Audacious - music player
    keepassX - password manager
    Pinta - Easy Picture editor
    gpicview - lightweight picture viewer
    VLC - video/multimedia player
    Gnumeric - spreadsheets
    Abiword - word processing
    leafpad - text editor
    transmission - bittorrent
Kept and updated Cheese for webcam/pics, etc.
    Filezilla - FTP
    xfburn for CD/DVD burning
removed evince - only using ePDF viewer
Added LXFinder utility for easy file searches
    Added LxScreenshot for lightweight screenshots
Added back the wattOS "Configure panel" with normal configuration utilities in one place for ease of use.
    Added Pavucontrol for audio controls
Added ndisgtk so there is a graphical front end for ndiswrapper to make it easy to add windows drivers for wireless.
    Remastersys for backups

    Hi all - updates

wattOS R6 32 bit is done, and 64 bit is being tested. There are a few people beta testing 32bit right now. 64 bit will be a couple more days.

I have posted some obigatory screen shots of course because everyone loves pics :)

There were a couple of questions that needed answered. The gtk theme is Evolve in the screen shots. The backup solution is remastersys which is included. All of the rest seems to be working well as final testing and polish is complete.

Please ask me any questions you have, but I think its safe to say that the final release will be this week :)

The blogosphere (Hertzog) has it that the first major update to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is planned to come out on August 23rd; it will pack more than 180 bug fixes, citing this list : https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+milestone/ubuntu-12.04.1
How much of this is critical to R6 ? Any idea what size update R6 users are immediately facing ?

Hey teejay - R6 32 bit is under some testing by a few folks right now (ie. the ISO is not final) and 64 bit will be doing the same thing within the next 2-3 days. The 28th is my target release date. I am going to try to stick to it :) - I will give a few more details in the coming days. The ISO is really close to the same size as the previous release....

For those of you who are testing the 32bit pre-release. I will be adding ndisgtk and arandr to the final release as those are two omissions.

what about no wp / spreadsheet apps on the release cd?
i'm sure i can't be the only one who does want all the features of Libre or Open office but wants a lighter OS too ... or should i say an OS that doesn't waste the processor power and memory i've paid for on "X-Factor" style gloss & hype.

Japanese fonts need to be folded in, peeps. How are we supposed to read 4chan and uncensor the PRC?
Kenn...are you sure you're not missing something? Do the given apps not import .office2013 files well?

i wouild guess that they probably do Saigua, however, i have tried opening two or three of my spreadsheets and, although i'm certainly not doing anything fancy, my nicely formatted sheets looked terrible.  sorry but i'm old, old enough to not want to waste time re-inventing any more wheels.

Ah, thanks Kenn, that's a no to loading sensible formatting...that goes beyond sparsity of fonts, I take it. (How bad is it with LibreOffice or OpenOffice?) Calligrasheets leans in at 300MB (without charting and markup bits,) so how about just 600KB for the python-xlwt package (and a package it depends on, per Synaptic.) Any good? It looks like M'soft core fonts are already in R6, but you might have had a mind to pick some Apple or HP fonts, say...
Kspread and a font set or so (at 550MB?)
Apologies if that's too much wheel again already.

Will all Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS applications work on wattOS R6?

Skype has an application that supports Unbuntu 12.04.1 LTS.  Does that mean it will also run on wattOS R6?

Any helpful info would be great!

    Thanks ahead for the help!

wattOS is based on ubuntu and has the same repos, so it should work. It depends on what calls it makes because standard ubuntu also uses unity, and wattOS does not. But does not hurt to give it a go!

    tks,
