20.1 in screen - 1680x1050 res - How do I achieve this

First post after first ever install of WattOS.

For me personally, out of the box (well off of the dvd) everything worked great, unlike some other Linux OS's. Video, sound etc etc everything is just great.

The only slight blot is that I cannot seem to fill my screen with any of the integrated WattOS resolutions, currently I am using 1400x1050 as it fits the best of those available. With this resolution I get full top to bottom of screen OK but the width has a band approximatley 1 inch wide all the way down the right hand side. The band has a thick black edge and the rest is filled with vertical lines.

    Computer specs as follows -

All in one PC - Sony Vaio VGC-JS1E

    Intel Core 2 Duo

    3.00GB ram

Graphics chipset - Intel GMA X4500HD

    Resolution - 1680 x 1050

    Screen - 20.1 inch

Any advice or even a fix ;-) would be much appreciated.

    UPDATE

The following morning when I turned my computer on, the resolution 1400x1050 did not behave the same, I have had to now change it to 1600x1024 to see and use the base toolbar, although this is now not level with the computer screen lower edge. It is about 3/4 of an inch tall. There is also still the 1 inch panel to the right as mentioned in my original post above.

Thanks Bill...I will look into this a bit - I dont have that chipset to test...Did you try to fire up Jockey to see  if there are any proprietary drivers available which would likely solve your resolution problem?

Located under "Preferences - additional drivers" and let it scan your system....

If not, Intel has a site. I believe that is called the "Q45 express chipset"

    Tks biff.

I have run the tool and are no additional drivers available.

If anything turns up I will report back here
