    Hello there,

    I am quite new to wattos, just installed it and now I ahve the following priting problem.

    Wattos has correctly found my HP laserjet 1018, however when I print nothing happens, the printer queue shows status stopped and I see the following message under printerstate:

    idle - /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed

    any ideas???

    greetings from Holland

    Sorry, what I mean by that was to go to Synaptic and look for "hplip". I hope it'll work.

    Suggestion, without guarantees :
    You probably need to have HPLIP available before adding the printer, so you might choose to UNinstall the 1018, reboot, REinstall the 1018. Simple to try, hope it works.

    @Teejay Tried this, I uninstalled the printer, rebooted, still does not print:-( rocessing - /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed

    Anoy other ideas? Frustrating is that it does print with ubuntu 12, but that is too heavy for my system:-(

    @Bas How annoying - sounds like there's a U12 solution witing to be backported to U11 and hence wattOS.

    If you've searched online you'll know that this is not an uncommon error, and there are a myriad of fixes to accommodate the myriad of printers.

    Suggest :   http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/  which seems to have something specific for the 1018,

    and failing that the HP website for the 1018 which might have a more specific HPLIP.

    @Teejay,

    Solved it....
    Deinstalled printer drivers and hplib again, but this time:.
    Reinstalled hplib by downloading from hplip website, this time hplib came with several questions during the script and suddenly the printer started humming.....
