I would like to have some buttons and banners with the wattOS logo to include into my web site. Just like on http://my.opera.com/community/opera/buttons/. I think a lot of people here would like to spread the word...

I was saying, use an LED.
Although, I think the current LIGHT BULB is very identifiable as a LOGO.
Communication of the Logo Image is the prime consideration.
I LIke the Light Bulb. It means the same thing to all people.
To that end, and offered as an example of an implementation,
(1) On the front of my 1968 VW air-cooled Bus
I mounted 2 sets of 15 white LED lamps.
(2) On the rear of my 1968 VW air-cooled Bus
I mounted 12 sets of 10 red LED lamps, in the rear window and elswhere,
as Running & Brake lights,
along with 2 sets of 10 amber LED lamps for turn signals,
along with 1 set of 10 amber LED lamps for an emergency flasher.
I have been pulled over by the sheriff for having 'way &dang& too many lights" and "they are way &dang& too bright!" No ticket, just a warning to go home and fix it. Ha.
I know that is not exactly a WattOS computer topic,
just a friendly chat thing about the LOGO.
I DO NOT suggest a dozen LEDs as a logo, :) :) :)

I am sure you have more pressing and interesting work than flipping logo images around.
Check out my last post as a reductio-ad-absurdiam of LED tail-lights.
Red tail-lights communicate as long as they are identifiable.
One light might work, two might work, maybe three or four.
So, IMHO, the current "Light Bulb" logo works well,
because it communicates Immediately.
Just my opinion.

I have half-dozen different distros installed in my "Sand-Box" computer.
Booting off Grub4Dos.
When I reinstall WattOS in this new configuration,
will I have the option of NOT installing a fresh Grub2, ala Ubuntu's method ???
I an intrigues by the Squash file system.
Since Watt is built on Ubuntu,
does anybody think that Ubuntu might adopt a Squash file system ???
(Somebody needs to diminish or delete that red-tail-light picture!)

Each new release is interesting as they present new challenges. Its fun to watch the shift in technology as time progresses. The last release of wattOS (June 2010) I received virtually zero requests for 3G USB support or issues, but as users continue to migrate to more mobile technologies outside of traditional WiFi I have seen a pretty dramatic uptick in that interest.
I will put some new instructions up in the coming week for how to do some of these various cusomizations so folks can make devices like these work.

This is a great small OS! All is really working! Even recording audio (and maybe video; not tried yet).
Is it difficult to unlock the desktop-icons so you can place them where you like?
I like the tiny pager configurable so there can be more workspaces.
But I must say I'm delighted with wattOS.
Thanks for the feedback. The next version will have icons you can drag around on the desktop. There is another thread that discusses the pager and what to add so you can make it easily configurable with more desktops, name them, etc.

(I have installed wattOS on my old DELL which was a little too slow for the software of today. Fantastic! Something like Snowy White. And no problems, great functionallity, it's doing everything I like it to do.)

Also when I install 'numlock' from the repository.
Also when I switch it on in Bios.
No big deal, but maybe give it a look? :smile:

A question:
Is WattOS opensource? Or can we get the source in anysence.
(I am not an engineer of anykind. But I think the work can be done by some other's, for example: the installer)
I don't know if any of the WattOS faithful would be interested in this or not, but I have attached an image that I put in my email signature line which I made from the startup splash screen (if there are any legal issues with this please let me know). It has already generated a lot of interest from friends that I have emailed from my wattOS machine, and I expect it will result in a few additional downloads and some new users. I'm hoping that you can just right click on it and save the image. Then you can include it as your email signature and announce your use of a great Linux OS.
