[solved] Equinox, not Raleigh, please...

I posted this on "How do I?" but from the seem of it it's now overshadowed (Can't find a better term) by other questions, so I'll ask it here.

Some applications in R5 (Additional Drivers, Software sources, Brasero,etc) looks like a coloured version of the ''Raleigh'' theme. How do I make it look like other gtk applications?

mmm...not sure..will have to look into further. I do not have the same problem with those apps. They appear to be formatted in line with the theme. when I specifically launched them with a vanilla wattOS R5 install. Did you try to change the theme to something else then back to Equinox to see if the apps picked it up? Or do they match other themes when you temporarily change?

They do not. Oh, yes, Ubiquity suffers from the same problem, and I think in one of your screenshots in the Ubiquity slideshow (Did not honestly see one coming, actually) 'Language Support' was also having that problem.

In all other ways, this distro's a great one, even when compared to Lubuntu.

Hey Dave, Not the same thing you are seeing with the equinox strangeness. That "purple-ish bar at the top is because the ubuntu graphics are removed and I customized ubiquity for the icons and logo for wattOS. Your theme issue is something else I believe.
I have not been able to replicate so far, but I have not given up on this one just yet...

might try launching the theme editing program from a terminal (its called lxappearance) and see what sort if info messages it spits out when you change themes.

You will always see all kinds of messages when you launch the program this way. Some relevant, some not, but it will give a hint.

I have not had time to take that any further just yet....

Take a look at it again...and it's unmistakably Raleigh!(I'll try the terminal formula after I fix my bootloader)

.........Anybody? And here's a suggestion on how to replicate the problem: Download the files yourself literally from the link found on this website , then install it to a Flash Drive, open the live session, and for me Brasero, language support, software-properties-gtk, usb-creator-gtk(Install that yourself), gdebi(not limited to those) are all effected.

I made an iso (of that troubled system) with Remastersys, Obviously it didn't work.

Hi Dave, I will try to spend some time on this in the next couple days. I have wattOS running on a couple systems, and I carry a USB stick with me at all times, but I use unetbootin, so dont know if that makes a difference, but so far have not been able to replicate. But I am sure I will be able to eventually.

The problem is from unetbootin, liveusbinstall, and usb-creator-gtk(Haven't try it's KDE version, but even if I do, I'll expect the same result). Haven't try burning it to a CD. Besides, in the Ubiquity slideshow shows a "Language Support" Window having that problem.My guess would be, If there is a problem with the iso that everybody gets to download in the Download area above, if you download from there yourself you will probably find the same problem.

Thanks a lot for trying though, not to mention creating an OS that (Even with the gtk problem I'm having) is ab-so-lute-ly great. Keep up the good job.

writing that comes at the end if you just cliked on the link (I can't really fix that, this website DOES need a fix, I suppose)

Perhaps the problem is with the uploading. But then again, why, in the ubiquity slideshow, does "Language Support" look like having the "Raleigh Problem"? And who actually took the screenshots (Whoever it is he or she managed to replicate the Raleigh problem, so ask him/her about the problem.)?

Dave please stop duplicate posting for further evidence of the same problem. Its not going to solve your problem any quicker. It has been noted and I am looking further into it, but have found no other posts,videos, or look like your original post above yet. Not saying its not something that is a problem probably related to equinox and GTK, but nobody else so far has brown windows and green scroll bars or anything close to what you have seen so far. I am sorry that its irritating your experience, and hope we can find the root cause.

Oh, I'm sorry about that. I have to admit that I should have said earlier that the Brown and green combo is the colour I chose, and the Raleigh-coloured photos in the links is probably because the default colour is White and Blue.

So, yes, Changing colour of the gtk look works, but the theme itself looks windows 98 esque.

Basically, if I change the colour to white for ''normal window'' and ''black'' for ''selected items'' it would have had a white window with black scrollbars.If I turn off the "Use customised Colour scheme", It would've been white and blue like in the photos in the links above. So the problem is not with the colours, but it's with the shape, the colours actually, very surprisingly in hindsight, in a good way, match the one I choose, it's that the shape of the buttons, scrollbars, etc look (Sorry for repeating myself) windows 98 esque.

I should've also noted that a lot of apps, including but not limited to (Not even close) Midori, gnumeric, or the LXTerminal doesn't suffer from the same problem.

I'll repeat myself again here (Sorry), The problem is not with the perfectly functioning colour (In this case brown and green) but with the Raleigh-esque shape of it, that's the point.

Ah well,
1) This OS has some greatness that will most certainly overshadow the problem above
2)I can just wait for R6, in which the countdown to it will start in 1-4 weeks, and be a Distro Hopper in the meanwhile.

Hello, the issue you are having I think is that some applications are now gtk 3 such as Update manager, Brasero etc,

The Equinox Themes are only gtk2 so any gtk 3 apps wont use it and use there default theme.

As far as I know there is no gtk 3 port for the Equinox themes yet.

To fix this for me I downloaded the Elementary 3 theme and unpacked it in to my .themes folder,

then in synaptic I installed Murrine gtk engine and the Aurora gtk engine.

Also I installed the Elementary Icon theme from Synaptic.

Once installed open up Customize Look and Feel and set the theme to Elementary and Icons Elementary, Log out and and back in and things should look allot better

The only App I have found so far that wont use the Elementary theme is Synaptic, everything else seems ok

Since you said that I thought that the default Ubuntu themes should also be a gtk 3 theme. It was, and things look perfectly normal now. Thanks!
