Post your wishes for R5 here. What you would like to see, apps, issues, etc.

There will be an official thread later of the "final" versions of apps for it soon.

I would like to see Dillo as a web browser for old computers.

It would be fine when browser-bookmarks are free exchangable. In R4 I couldn't solve problems with it (for instance Firefox<->Chrome or Firefox<->Epiphany. I still have R3 which does this fine.

I like the moving of icons on the desktop (thanks!) a little bit smoother. Maybe some finetuning?

And a good menu-editor (something like alacarte, so full edit) please.

System monitor included. The one you get from synaptic.

Don't know if that's possible but I would like to see the package manager in the "System Tools". For me personally the package manager has nothing to do with the preferences.

I like it. The easier it is for windows users to convert to wattOS the better.

Driver support for Poulsbo GMA 500 would be nice. A lot of netbooks are stuck with that chipset.

    regards

Thanks mac...it so happens I have a poulsbo chipset netbook - Dell mini 10.

Most of the time I just add the poulsbo Repo and follow the process thats out there. I will go find that link so its here on the forums...I have gotten that chipset to show the correct native resolution the last couple of versions of wattOS with a little effort....thanks for the reminder

Agree. There are a few problems, but generally it's a classic.Besides, this is a DE with an idea similar to GNOME 3, but instead of one experience for all devices(PC, tablet, mobile, etc) it has several 'Profiles', ranging from 'mobile' to 'scaling'(well, thats what I can see in the first setup, I've actually only been using scaling and standard), and you can enable composite, if your PC holds, of course. The right click is replaced by a left, probably for mobiles and tablets, but you can switch it back to the right, if you want.

Also, from synaptic, why don't you add 'light-themes'. It is the package that has the 'ambiance' and 'radiance' gtk engine, the ones for ubuntu 11.10(And 11.04 too?), and maybe oxygen-gtk?It lt's the gtk engine that looks like KDE. And maybe an application of Impress' and Powerpoint's nature(which is notably absent), and allow to switch DEs in LXDM without reinstalling it first. Oh, and Midori web browser (as things turned out, the one available for Natty is 3.0.2, which is very, very, unstable. The one available for Oneiric however, 4.0.2, is about as stable a Chromium would be, I think.A more beautiful GO! icon(Like the one I dreamed of in an above post).

Midori does not work with Hotmail...

Ever tried identifying Midori as another browser? (I haven't tried it) example: IE. Also, I'm talking about version 4.0.2 used in Oneiric, not the unstable 3.0.2.

After the Midori v Chromium debate is resolved, there will still be other prefs for browsers, as these forums show. Likewise for email clients.
In the interests of small(er) footprint, low(er) power, etc, could we have Firefox 3.6.x and Thunderbird 3.1.x in the repositories ? I can understand the need of some for the newest versions - surely there is room for both ?

Why? Does it have a segfault? Apparently, Midori used to have segfaults all the time when at weather.com.

I wish I could add `ir` layout to keyboard layouts along with `us` layout with a meaningful switch shortcut such as `Alt+Shift` .

There are several bug reports about Midori and Hotmail. Some are suggesting using Evolution to get email from Hotmail.

Watt OS R5 uses at last the long waited Network-Manager who does recognize modern USB 3G pens, by menu and country. I have a small box computer, ALIX 1.D hardware, 256 MB RAM, where Watt OS proved to be the best distro. It is able to work with this battery powered mini computer, who is intended to be left alone with a solar power recharger equipment, for data connectivity.

However Network-Manager has a bug in all the Ubuntu 11 line and everywhere else recent: it does not auto-connect at start or after a signal loss. It works well manually. For a computer left alone some hundred miles away you can see the desvantadge of this bug. There is a command line option for enable broadband connection but it does not work with shell scripts, not without a too complex set anyway.

By wish is Watt OS R5 could talk with Network-Manager for a solution for broadband automaticy start and reconnection after signal loss.
